Peter Sykes has been a professional musician, songwriter and music educator since 1980. He has written over 100 songs and recorded music for FOX Television, Plum TV, played and recorded with Michael Steele of The Bangles, Canadian singer Vikki Moss among others.
Peter has performed to over 50,000 people during his career at many venues including Festival Hall – Melbourne, Australia, the Napa Valley Opera House, The Uptown Theatre Napa and Silos Napa as well as opening for acts such as John Farnham, The Fixx and Lou Gramm (Foreigner). He also appeared on FOX Television as a member of a fictional rock band, “The Mad Dogs”.
His songs, “Lifeline” and “Dogs and Coffee”, are currently being played on the northern Californian radio station, KVYN-99.3. With “a melodic mix of pop, folk and rock artists in the ballpark of Sting, Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, OneRepublic, Ed Sheeran and John Mayer. Peter writes truly great songs.”
Along with nearly 40 years of experience as a recording artist and performing musician, Peter is also an experienced music educator having taught over 69,000 private music lessons.
In 2005 he and his wife Victoria opened The Napa School of Music. The school, with a faculty of 13 instructors, provides music instruction to approximately 400 students every week. In addition to this, the school has a very successful rock band program for kids and adults that Peter developed called “Garage Band 101”. The impact on the community has been phenomenal.
With 11 years of real world experience as an educator, a small business owner AND 40 years as a songwriter and performer, Peter deeply understand the challenges the small business owner faces and the sacrifices they often make in order for their businesses to be successful.
